On the 11th of November, 2009р. at 14:00 in Committee on Taxation and Customs Policy of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Kyiv, Lypska 3) the round table «Implementation of Green Building technology in Ukraine» took place to discuss the new draft law "On Additional Measures for Minimization of Environmental Impact of Building Projects".
The aim of the new draft law is to define legal and organizational principles of minimization of environmental impact of building projects and stimulating construction of environment friendly buildings. The draft law stipulates additional responsibility of business for society and creation of organizational and legislation basis for state regulation of Green Building in Ukraine.
The result of the event became a number of important suggestions and comments on the draft law. In part, instead of compensation for environment effects to provide privileges for those, using Green Building technology, to work out the detailed standards and criterions of certification and to improve state building rules.
It was also suggested to extend the draft law not only for office blocks, but also for all the other building projects.
Among those who took an active part in public discussion of the draft law were Anatoliy Batrak, UDC Holding; Mikhail Satanovsky, Drees&Sommer; Оleksiy Kot, Salkom; Tetyana Budyakova, Cameron McKenna; Olena Brodovska, Cameron McKenna; representatives of Kyiv organization of union of architects of Ukraine, Fund of ecological (green) investments and Knauf Insulation Ukraine.
The participants of the round table supported the draft law on the whole. The working group was created to work on the draft law.
Among the participants were people's deputies of Ukraine, representatives of the Ministry of Protection of Environment, embassies, representatives of Kyiv state administration, members of the Green Party of Ukraine, representatives of the Fund of ecological investments and the leading building companies of Ukraine.
